This was the second Vengeance event to take place within the WTX Universe. It was the follow up to November tradition Survivor Series and was followed with the final event of 2015, TakeOver: Brookyln, which was hosted exclusively by NXT.
The show featured the standard set of seven matches, four of which were championship mathces. The first match of the show saw Carlito defend his Global Championship in a Fatal 4-Way, after weeks of walking out on defences, this was decided upon as he would not be needed for the match to see a finish, he was set to defend his championship against Dean Ambrose, Drew Galloway & Damien Sandow. In the second match, a grudge match took place between Big E & Titus O'Neil after Big E had abandoned O'Neil to form The New Day with Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods, the two faced off in a singles match as O'Neil looked to leave the team behind him and become a singles success once more. In the third match of the night, Lita defended the Women's Championship once again against Naomi, who had been feuding for the championship for months.
In the fourth match, Finn Balor faced off against SmackDown superstar Kane, after Balor was brought to RAW from SmackDown following Survivor Series, Balor's "demon self" took it upon himself to invade SmackDown and attack Kane as a follow up to their first match at No Mercy. After which Kane was invited to Vengeance to face Balor. In the fifth match of the night, Baron Corbin challenged Mick Foley to a matchup as he had previously faced off against and defeated Foley's personas Cactus Jack & Dude Love, demanding one more match against Mankind, which Foley accepted.
The sixth match then pit the World Tag Team Championships at stake as champions D-Generation X faced off against newly teaming superstars Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods of The New Day, who had quickly won a contenders match to earn the opportunity. Finally, in the main event, The Undertaker was scheduled to defend his WWE Championship in an Elimination Chamber, facing off against former chamions Ryback & Randy Orton as well as former world champions Mark Henry & Sheamus, and finally, upcoming star Hideo Itami.
The event opened with the Global Championship Fatal 4-Way, seeing Carlito finally lose the championship to Dean Ambrose, who pinned Damien Sandow after Dirty Deeds for the victory. In the second match, Big E defeated Titus O'Neil. The third match saw Lita retain the Women's Championship against Naomi. In the fourth match, Finn Balor got redemption against Kane in a highly competitive matchup. The fifth match then saw defeat and retire Mick Foley under the Mankind persona, as requested.
In the sixth match of the night, DX retained the World Tag Team Championship after Triple H got the pinfall on Kofi Kingston following a Pedigree. In the main event, Randy Orton won the Elimination Chamber match to earn his second WWE Championship victory.
