Later on in March, Flair was given a match against Seth Rollins to determine the #1 contender for Kevin Owens' Intercontinental Championship. Flair defeated Rollins via submission.
Before Flair's match against Owens, Owens was attacked backstage, with his legs being the primary target. Flair capitalized off of the leg damage, making Owens tap out to become Intercontinental Champion. At WrestleMania V, Flair defeated Roberts as after Roberts refused to tap out to the Figure 4 Leg Lock, Roberts passed out, allowing Flair to get the pinfall.
Following WrestleMania, Flair was drafted to Raw where he and Triple H tried to reunite Evolution, the idea was shot down by Randy Orton & Batista who wanted Triple H's WWE Championship. Flair then teamed with Triple H in the main event of Raw to defeat the WWE Tag Team Champions, Edge & Christian. Flair instead faced Matt Hardy in a non-title match, losing to Hardy. A 6-Man Battle Royal to determine the next challenger for Flair was set for the following week, the match will feature Hardy, Cesaro, Joe, Erick Rowan, Luke Harper & Tyler Breeze. Hardy won the Battle Royal earning another shot at Flair, this time for the championship. Flair then faced and weakened Neville, potentially injuring him with Flair intending to help Triple H who had to defend against Neville the next week.
