Debut (2012)

"Macho Man" Randy Savage made his WTX Universe debut on the February 8th edition of NXT in a tag team main event in which he partnered with Mick Foley to defeat the team of Sin Cara & Yoshi Tatsu. Savage got his first championship opportunity at Hell in a Cell, competing in the main event, an Armageddon Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE Championship, the match was won by Kane, however.

United States Champion (2013)

On the May 14th edition of RAW, Savage challenged and defeated The Rock to win the United States Championship. At Cyber Sunday, Savage successfully defended his championship for the first time against both Antonio Cesaro & Eddie Guerrero in a Triple Threat Match. Savage lost the championship on the July 29th edition of RAW to the returning Mason Ryan. At SummerSlam, Savage invoked his rematch clause, defeating Mason Ryan to reclaim the United States Championship.

On September 3rd, Savage defended his championship against one half of current World Tag Team Champions, The Crimson Blade, with Crimson defeating Savage to become United States Champion.

Draft to SmackDown (2014)

On March 26th, Savage was drafted from RAW to SmackDown as part of the 2014 Draft. At Money in the Bank, Savage competed in a Money in the Bank Ladder Match, losing to Tyler Breeze.

Return to NXT (2015-present)

In April of 2015, Savage was drafted from SmackDown to NXT as part of the 2015 Supplemental Draft. At NXT TakeOver, Randy Savage made his NXT return, answering the open challenge for the Intercontinental Championship hosted by champion Cesaro, to whom Savage lost to. At Cyber Sunday, Savage competed for the NXT Championship losing to the champion The Great Destroyer.

At NXT TakeOver II, Savage competed in a contenders four way for the Intercontinental Championship that was won by Solomon Crowe.

Savage competed very sparely in the first few months of 2016, failing to qualify for the Royal Rumble in January. In March he competed in a Money in the Bank qualifier, again losing the match. Savage was given another big opportunity on March 31st, competing in a #1 contenders 4-Way for the Intercontinental Championship but was unsuccessful again, with Jake Roberts winning the match. Due to Savage's declining status in recent weeks, he was put on Main Event on April 9th, losing to Diamond Dallas Page. Savage was given another opportunity at a championship, competing in a #1 contenders match against Booker T on the May 4th edition of NXT, however, despite Savage coming close this time, he lost again, this time via countout. Savage got one last chance, facing the champion, Rikishi with the stipulation that if he won, he would be added to the match between Rikishi & Booker at TakeOver: Dallas, he defeated Rikishi, making himself an official part of the match. Savage was unsuccessful at TakeOver: Dallas however, as Booker T defeated Rikishi to become the new United States Champion.

On the first NXT of 2017, Savage won a 6-Man Battle Royal to qualify for the 2017 Royal Rumble Match.
