Matt Hardy is a member of the SmackDown roster as of 2017. He has held two championships throughout his career in the WTX Universe, he is a former Hardcore Champion as well as a former World Tag Team Champion with Jeff Hardy as The Hardy Boyz.
World Tag Team Champion (2012)
Matt Hardy made his WTX Universe debut alongside Jeff Hardy as one half of The Hardy Boyz at No Way Out 2012, the two were given a shot in their debut against the World Tag Team Champions Big Show & Kane for their championships, the Hardy's one, making them champions on their first night. The Hardyz went on to defeat challengers John Morrison & Joey Mercury at SummerSlam.
At Night of Champions, The Hardyz defended against Team D-Z, however, the match ended in a no contest, meaning they remained champions. A rematch between the two teams took place at Bragging Rights, this time with Team D-Z winning the championships from The Hardyz. The Hardyz had their next championship opportunity at TLC, challenging Too Cool for the World Tag Team Championship, The Hardyz were unsuccessful.
As part of the 2013 Supplemental Draft, The Hardys were drafted from RAW to SmackDown. On the June 14th edition of SmackDown, Matt defeated Jeff Hardy in a TLC Match for the Hardcore Championship. Hardy then lost the championship one month later on the July 12th edition of SmackDown to The Crimson Blade in a Steel Cage Match. On the Season 3 premiere of SmackDown, The Hardy Boyz faced and lost to The Ascension for the vacant WWE Tag Team Championship. At Cyber Sunday, Hardy was voted into a steel cage match for the United States Championship, losing to champion Big Show who escaped the cage to retain.
On February 13th, Hardy won a Battle Royal to qualify for the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match at No Way Out. At No Way Out, Hardy was eliminated first from the match, being pinned by the defending champion Brock Lesnar.
At King of the Ring, Hardy competed in the King of the Ring Tournament, being eliminated in the first round by Dean Ambrose. On March 13th, Hardy qualified for the Money in the Bank Ladder match at WrestleMania IV. At WrestleMania IV, Hardy lost the Money in the Bank ladder match to Sting.
Draft to NXT (2015)
In April of 2015, Hardy was drafted from SmackDown to NXT as part of the 2015 Supplemental Draft. On May 13th, Hardy challenged for the Intercontinental Championship, losing to champion Cesaro. At Cyber Sunday, Hardy competed for the championship again, losing this time to champion Seth Rollins in a Steel Cage. At NXT TakeOver II, Hardy interupted an Intercontinental Championship match between Rollins & Kevin Owens, attacking both men and causing a no contest.
Return to Raw (2016-2017)
Following WrestleMania V, Matt Hardy was drafted back to the Raw brand, temporarily reuniting with Jeff before Jeff was drafted to NXT. Hardy made his return as a Raw superstar on the April 30th edition of Main Event, facing and losing to Tyler Breeze. Hardy then competed on the following May 2nd edition of Raw, facing Intercontinental Champion Ric Flair in a non-title match, defeating Flair. A 6-Man Battle Royal was announced for the May 9th edition of Raw between Hardy, Breeze, Erick Rowan, Luke Harper, Cesaro & Samoa Joe to determine who would next face Ric Flair for his championship. Hardy won the Battle Royal, earning a rematch with Flair for the championship on the May 17th edition of Raw, Hardy lost the championship match to Flair, however.
On July 4th, Hardy returned to action in an Intercontinental Championship contenders match against Chris Jericho, Hardy lost to Jericho following a Code Breaker.
Hardy Boyz Reunion (2017-present)
On April 2nd 2017, Hardy was drafted from RAW to SmackDown as part of the 2017 Draft.
