Kurt Angle is a member of the SmackDown roster as of 2017. He has held three championships throughout his career, all of which are with the United States Championship. Angle holds the record for most times the US Championship has been won.
United States Champion (2012)
Kurt Angle made his WTX Universe debut on June 19th 2012 in the main event of NXT, defeating Jack Swagger. At Night of Champions, Kurt Angle won his first championship within the WTX Universe, the United States Championship, after winning a 6-man battle royal. Angle had a rematch with former champion CM Punk at Hell in a Cell, in which he successfully retained the championship for the first time. At Bragging Rights, Angle lost his championship to Jack Swagger, who defeated him in a Submission Match.
Angle had a rematch with Swagger for the championship at TLC in a Triple Threat Match also featuring Bobby Roode, in which Angle won his second United States Championship. Angle retained his championship at Royal Rumble against former champions Swagger and Chris Jericho, who Angle had also been feuding with recently. At WrestleMania II, Angle lost the United States Championship in a Battle Royal also for the Intercontinental Championship, the match was won by MVP.
As part of the 2013 Supplemental Draft, Kurt Angle was drafted from RAW to SmackDown. At Backlash, Angle challenged for MVP's United States & Intercontinental Championships in a Triple Threat Ladder Match, the match was won by The Rock. At No Way Out, Kurt Angle competed in the World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber, being eliminated by Chris Hero following his KO move.
On November 28th Angle defeated Brodus Clay to become United States Champion for a third time.
Second United States Championship Reign (2015)
At No Way Out, Angle defended his championship successfully against a former champion in CM Punk. At King of the Ring, Angle faced and defeated Punk once again, despite outside interference from Baron Corbin. At WrestleMania IV, Angle defeated Punk a third time, as well as Corbin and Christian in a Fatal 4-Way for his championship.
In April of 2015, Angle was drafted from SmackDown to NXT as part of the 2015 Supplemental Draft. Despite this, Angle made one final appearance on SmackDown, being made to defend the United States Championship against new SmackDown members, losing the championship to Rusev. At NXT TakeOver, Angle faced and lost to The Great Destroyer. At Night of Champions, Angle accepted an open challenge from Sheamus, losing to Sheamus in the match.
Climbing the Ranks (2016)
In 2016 Angle competed in multiple matches, often coming out of the losing end. At King of the Ring, Angle competed in the tournament, defeating Shawn Michaels in the quarter final before losing to Triple H in the semi-final. Angle was given a spot in a battle royal to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania V, however, Jeff Hardy won the match. Angle made a special appearance at WrestleMania V in the corner of the defending World Tag Team Champions, American Alpha, who were facing The Outsiders. Angle entered the Joker's Wild Tournament next, being randomly paired with The Hurricane, the team lost to James Storm & Prince Puma.
On July 11th, Angle stated that he was tired of his position on RAW and that he would begin challenging every man ranked above him as he climbs towards the WWE Championship. Starting at the 20th rank, Angle faced the 19th ranked superstar, Suicide, defeating him via Ankle Lock.
Return to SmackDown (2017-present)
On April 2nd 2017, Angle was drafted from RAW to SmackDown as part of the 2017 Draft.
