Hideo Itami is a member of SmackDown roster as of 2017, he is a former Cruiserweight Champion as well as a former WTX Champion.


Debut (2014-2015)

Hideo Itami made his WTX Universe debut on the December 31st 2014 edition of NXT, losing to Bray Wyatt. On March 11th, Itami won a contenders match, earning a Cruiserweight Championship match at WrestleMania IVAt WrestleMania IV, Itami faced and defeated Gregory Helms to win the Cruiserweight Championship, his first championship within the WTX Universe.

Cruiserweight Champion (2015)

As part of the 2015 Supplemental Draft, Itami was traded from NXT to RAW with the championship. At Backlash, Itami retained his championship in a rematch against Helms. At Over the Limit, Itami faced and defeated Jeff Hardy for the Cruiserweight Championship after the two had previously been working together to fend off The RevolutionAt SummerSlam, Itami lost the championship to Carlito, who then went on to retire the Cruiserweight Championship. At Cyber Sunday, Itami challenged for the new Global Championship, losing to the champion Carlito.

At Survivor Series, Itami was decided as a member of Team RAW to represent the brand against Team SmackDown, he teamed with Drew Galloway & Randy Orton, getting the deciding pinfall on Finn Balor to win the match for Team RAW.

At Vengeance, Itami competed in an Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship, eliminating the champion The Undertaker, Itami was eliminated second-to-last by Mark Henry. On December 28th, Itami challenged for the WWE Championship one-on-one losing to champion Randy Orton.

WTX Champion & 2017 Royal Rumble Winner (2016-present)

At TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, Itami defended and retained the WTX Championship, defeating Bo Dallas. On the December 27th edition of SmackDown, Itami defeated Apollo Crews & Chad Gable in a Triple Threat Match to qualify for the Royal Rumble, the following Thursday, Itami retained the WTX Championship against Alberto Del Rio on Superstars.

At Royal Rumble, Hideo Itami won the 2017 Royal Rumble Match after entering at #30, eliminating three participants, the most eliminations in the match, the final of which was John Cena to win the match, meaning that Itami will get a world championship match of his choosing at WrestleMania VI.

On February 7th, Itami put his WTX Championship up in an open challenge, accepted by the returning Bobby Lashley, Itami would then lose the championship after a competitive match. It was announced shortly after that Itami invoked his rematch clause for the Elimination Chamber event. At the event, Itami lost to Lashley in just under four minutes, at the end of the show, it was revealed that Itami had chosen to face Pentagon Jr. for the NXT Championship at WrestleMania VI, moving back to NXT in the process.
