First ever WWE Tag Team Champions with McGillicutty (2012)
David Otunga was declared one half of the first ever WWE Tag Team Champions alongside his partner Michael McGillicutty on the debut episode of WTX Universe on January 29th 2012, he didn't however make his in-ring debut until the February 17th 2012 edition of SmackDown in which he (accompanied by Alicia Fox) lost in singles competition to Eddie Guerrero (managed by Vader.)
Otunga teamed with McGillicutty defending their championships for the first time at Elimination Chamber (2012) in which Otunga & McGillicutty retained their championships against The Legacy (Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase Jr.) via DQ, the reason for the disqualification was never actually classified however.
Otunga teamed with McGillicutty once again at Wrestlemania XXVII to defend their WWE Tag Team Championships against Raw's own World Tag Team Champions Big Show & Kane, Otunga & McGillicutty got the upset win to retain their championships.
Despite the WWE Tag Team Championships belonging to SmackDown, new Raw tag team Team D-Z (a team consisting of Daniel Bryan & Dolph Ziggler) were given a shot at Otunga & McGillicutty at Extreme Rules in a Table Match, D-Z ended up winning the match ending Otunga & McGillicutty's reign as champions.
On the June 29th 2012 edition of SmackDown, Otunga teamed with Booker T & Eddie Guerrero to face Sheamus in a Handicap Match. Otunga walked out on his team, attacking Guerrero, however, despite Otunga walking out on his team, Booker & Guerrero were still successful in defeating Sheamus.
As part of the 2013 Supplemental Draft, Otunga was drafted from NXT back to SmackDown.
Draft to NXT & Retirement (2015)
In April of 2015, Otunga was drafted from SmackDown to NXT as part of the 2015 Supplemental Draft. At NXT TakeOver II, Otunga lost a loser must retire match to Curtis Axel, ending his WTX Universe career.
